Products (1)

  • Smart Care Service

Known Affected Releases

1.4(1.0)QA10

Description (partial)

Symptom:
ASA reloads when smartcare appliance tries to take the backup file when the appliance constructed tftp destination filename exceeds the ASA permissible limit of 63 Chars.

Conditions:
Appliance executes the following commands to take the backup of startup/running configs from ASA

copy startup-config tftp
Address or name of remote host [abc.xyz.cdf]? [IP_of_Appliance]
    Destination filename []? NETWORK-BACKUP/[date]/[device_name]-[device-IP]-[TimeStamp]-s-conf.txt

copy running-config tftp
    Source filename [running-config]? running-config
Address or name of remote host [abc.xyz.cdf]? [IP_of_Appliance]
    Destination filename []? NETWORK-BACKUP/[date]/[device_name]-[device-IP]-[TimeStamp]-r-conf.txt

If thus constructed path exceeds the max limit support by ASA , then this leads to ASA crash and it reboots.
