Last Modified

Nov 08, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls

Known Affected Releases

7.2(4.18) 8.0(4.9) 8.0(5) 8.1(2.2) 8.2(0.167) 8.3(1) 9.1(2)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
Assume you have policy maps "global2" and "global_policy".

1. You cannot create a policy map that is a subset of existing policies.
asa5540-53(config-pmap)# policy-map global
ERROR: % Ambiguous command: "policy-map global"
asa5540-53(config)# policy-map glob
ERROR: % Ambiguous command: "policy-map glob"

2. You can get confused about which policy you are actually changing.
asa5540-53(config)# policy-map global_pol
asa5540-53(config-pmap)#

It seems like you are making changes to "global_pol". Instead, you are changing the "global_policy" policy map.

Conditions:
See above.
