Cisco Bug: CSCtd37043 - N7K: UDP port 0 should not not be allowed for netflow exporter

Last Modified

Feb 08, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

4.2(2a)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
The CLI allows configuration of UDP port 0 as destination port:
n7k-1# conf t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
n7k-1(config)# feature netflow
n7k-1(config)# 2009 Nov 20 14:20:38.109 n7k-1 %NFM-5-FEATURE_ENABLED: NetFlow Enabled.

n7k-1(config)# flow exporter test
n7k-1(config-flow-exporter)# transport udp ?
  <0-65535> Destination UDP Port

n7k-1(config-flow-exporter)# transport udp 0
n7k-1(config-flow-exporter)#

UDP port 0 is an invalid port; when the flow exporter is configured with UDP port 0, no netflow record is sent to the collector.

Ideally, UDP port 1 - 1024 should be avoided as well, if possible.

Conditions:
Configuring network exporter.
