Cisco Bug: CSCtd10608 - telnet session does not return the prompt/control after show commands
Jan 30, 2017
- Cisco Carrier Routing System
Known Affected Releases
126.96.36.199i.BASE 188.8.131.52i.BASE 3.9.0.BASE 4.0.0.OS
Symptom: when terminal length set to zero and the show commands executed for continuous output, the telnet session does not return the command/router prompt and seems to be hanging, however, only last few lines of the show command output is not displayed. Hitting ENTER key will display one line of output and pressing spacebar will advance one character on the output device. When the next command is entered, previous missing lines are displayed along with command prompt and again last few lines of the new output will not be displayed. In another words, you can type the new commands and they will get executed, but you will not see the typed commands. Condition: This behavior is not exclusively related to long outputs, it can occur with shorter outputs as well both from ADMIN plane as well as EXEC plane when 'terminal length 0' is entered for continuous output display. The trigger is timing issue and will manifest itself at different loads/activities on the router.
