Cisco Bug: CSCtd08840 - RTMT alerts during upgrade: "registered Media Devices increased/decrease
Jul 07, 2017

Known Affected Releases
Symptom: Sometimes during upgrade or switch-over, RTMT alerts like NumberOfRegisteredIncreased/Decreased Media/Gateway might be raised. Conditions: We might see the above false alarms during upgrade/switch-over or when a node is added or removed, when ccm service is stopped or down, when risdc service is stopped/down, when the link between risdc and amc is down, when the link between amc's is down, when we experience high cpu , IOWait, or network issues. Here is the internal algorithm used by AMC to trigger the alerts: 1. Every poll, primary AMC service will talk to remote AMC services to collect registered device data. 2. After that, the primary AMC service will aggregate or sum up the data to come up with the clusterwide registered device data. 3. If the total clusterwide data is increased or decreased compared to privous poll, the primary amc will raise the corresponding inc/dec device alerts. - So, if a node or cm service or risdc service or remote amc service is down, the "total" number will be decreased and hence we will raise the decr device alert. - Sometimes due to high cpu or IOWait or network/socket issues, amc fails to talk to Risdc to get the registered data, the total number is also decreased and primary amc also raise the alert.
