Description (partial)

Packet capture may fill up the flash memory with recorded packets, causing the system to fail. It may be necessary to re-install a system image or recovery image in order to recover from the failure.

Occurs if the packet capture is used to record packets and the amount of traffic captured exceeds the available storage space. The amount of time required to fill up the disk depends on the number of packets, size of the packets, and rate of packets being captured. IPS devices capable of inspecting high traffic rates are more vulnerable to this problem simply because they are capable of filling up the flash memory faster than on lower performance IPS devices.
