Cisco Bug: CSCtc77664 - mrib clients getting spurious connection close

Last Modified

Known Affected Releases

3.9.0.BASE 3.9.0.ROUT

Description (partial)

On DRPs, a process that hold a connection to mrib (typically pim4) gets a spurious disconnect pulse.

This is specific to DRPs and happens because, when DRPs reset, there can be a timing difference between CPU0 and CPU1 bootup.

Specifically, CPU0 can boot up a few seconds before CPU1. As a result sometimes, the ipv4_rib process gets placed first on CPU0 and when CPU1 becomes available, ipv4_rib gets migrated to CPU1. This migration results in a disconnect pulse to pim4, which holds a connection to ipv4_rib. However, due to a bug, pim4 also gets a spurious disconnect for mrib.
