Cisco Bug: CSCtc54335 - NXOS range creates MST region boundaries
Feb 03, 2017
- Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: Cisco Nexus 5k/7k NXOS vlan range is as follows: 1-3967,4048-4093 So the following vlans are reserved: 3968 to 4047 and 4094 This differs from the Cisco Catalyst switch reserved vlans: 0, 4095, 1002-1005 reserved by the cat6k Best practice is to create mapping for all used and non-used vlans from the very beginning. Because of this change of vlan mapping between the two set of switches, it causes MST regions to be separated and as a result it creates a region boundary. Conditions: The problem happens only when Cisco Nexus switch is connected to Cisco Catalyst switch running MST and which has different range of reserved vlans Workaround(s): In the MST region, please specify the range of vlans which does not contain a vlan which is in the reserved list of any of the switches.
