Cisco Bug: CSCtc17478 - request ability to report connection status of analog FXO ports
Jan 31, 2017
- Cisco IOS
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: ======== There is currently no facility in IOS to test an analog FXO voice-port to determine if it is connected to some device capable of supplying ring voltage and current. Conditions: =========== This behaviour is observed on all IOS Voice Routers installed with analog FXO voice-ports, in all releases of IOS. In IOS 12.4(20)T and newer in the IOS 12.4T train, the facility was added on the VG224 and IAD2430 platforms with the Analog Voice Module Vinetic 2.1 chipset to run a quick test to determine if a phone is actually attached to the analog FXS port or not. Similarly it is useful to have a feature to query an analog FXO port whether it is connected to a PBX/KeySwitch station port or to the PSTN or not. The current line of analog FXO hardware (VIC2-2FXO, VIC2-4FXO, EM-HDA-6FXO, EM-HDA-3FXS/4FXO, EM2-HDA-4FXO) all make use of the same Silicon Labs Si3050 chipset which is capable of reporting measured line voltage and current values. This new defect report requests this capability via an IOS voice-port test command.
