Cisco Bug: CSCtb95067 - Certificate mapping only partially overrides the group chosen by URL

Last Modified

Nov 09, 2016

Products (1)

  • Cisco ASA 5500-X Series Firewalls

Known Affected Releases

8.2(1.6)

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When a user that has a client certificate, which is mapped to a certain group by a certificate-map on the ASA, connects with Anyconnect to a group-url of a different group, the following is observed:

1. If the ASA has a DAP policy, this policy will use the tunnel-group of the group-url as the "aaa.cisco.tunnel-group" criterion, instead of the tunnel-group the user is mapped to by the certificate-group

2. If the DAP policy permits access, then the user lands on the correct tunnel-group (as specified by the certificate map), and the group-policy of that tunnel-group is applied.
However, <CmdBold>show vpn-sessiondb svc<noCmdBold> shows the correct group-policy but the wrong tunnel-group.

Conditions:
This only occurs when all of the following conditions are met:
- The problem is only seen with Anyconnect. The same user connecting clientless with the same certificate to the same group-url,will not see this issue).

- ASA has a certificate-map that maps the user's client certificate to a certain tunnel-group

- The user (or the XML profile on the client machine) selects a group-url of a different tunnel-group.
