Description (partial)

A Cisco IOS T.37 onramp gateway generates a DIS message that is out of specification. The preamble on the DIS message is very short, nearly non-existent, when it should be approximately 1 second in duration.

When an inbound fax enters an IOS onramp gateway, the following sequence of events happens:

1. Inbound fax call

2. Onramp gateway answers call

3. Onramp gateway plays CED tone

4. Onramp gateway plays DIS message with out of spec preamble

5. If no response to invalid DIS, 4.5 seconds later, the Onramp gateway will generate another DIS, this time, it is in accordance with the T.30 specification.

With the retransmission of a valid DIS message the impact of this should be minimal for most inbound faxes.

This happens on IOS gateways running T.37 onramp.
