Description (partial)

CSM cannot be used to regenerate the SSL certificate on an IPS sensor.
Once the certificate expires, CSM can no longer communicate with the 
sensor for any management of the device.

All versions of CSM (3.3 and below as of this writing) and IPS (7.0 and below).
