Cisco Bug: CSCtb20125 - CCMP errors on key rotation

Last Modified

Mar 06, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Aironet 3700 Series

Known Affected Releases

12.4(10b)JDA3 12.4(21a)JA1

Description (partial)

An access point/WGB may log errors similar to the following during data transfer

%DOT11-4-CCMP_REPLAY: AES-CCMP TSC replay was detected on a packet
(TSC 0xD89FF8) received from 001d.7305.0008."

Encryption used is AES. The problem happens only when the AP transmits non-aggregated packets while BA exchange is being agreed upon. Hence this is a very rare situation and should not happen frequently. The above error is seen on the receiver while the problem is with the
transmitter. So, if you think the AP has this issue, the error log should be seen on the WGB or clients that can display TSC replay errors.

Affects only 11n APs (1250/1140/3500).
