Symptom: POS Interfaces down/down. show controller sonet R/S/B/P reports: Status: Down ... Detected Alarms: None Asserted Alarms: None Mask for Detected->Asserted: None ... PATH TRACE BUFFER : STABLE ie. showing no alarms but the controller is Down, hence interfaces taken out of service. show im database detail R/S/CPU0 reports: ... Controller SONET R/S/B/P, ifh 0x03008600 (down, 10000) ... Controller SonetPath R/S/B/P, ifh 0x03008700 (down, 10000) ... Interface POS R/S/B/P, ifh 0x03008800 (down, 4474+4) Conditions: Process restart of g_spa_x or plim_16p_oc48 can cause this condition. A known trigger is CSCsy21122 which causes g_spa_x crash and restart from OIR activity. It is not possible to bring the affected interface(s) back up from configuration or process restarts.
