Cisco Bug: CSCta29484 - Radio stops beaconing for 10-second period

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco Aironet 3700 Series

Known Affected Releases

12.4(10b)JDA 12.4(21a)JA1 4.2(207.0) 6.0(182.0)

Description (partial)

Access points may intermittently get into a state where nearby
clients cannot see them. A client associated at this time will lose
communications briefly, and will likely roam to a more distant AP.
Then, the AP will again be visible to clients. This cycle will
   repeat erratically.
This is seen on the 802.11g and 802.11a radios, in 1200/1100/1310/1130/1240
APs, and where U-APSD clients are in use. This bug is seen in both CUWN
and in aIOS environments (for example, this bug affects aIOS 12.4(21a)JA1.)
The problem is especially prevalent in environments where
the AP must frequently retry its transmission.

Does anyone know any more about the ETA for this fix? The problem is that APs will stop sending beacons for several seconds, causing clients to obviously become unhappy. The bug shows a fix in a forthcoming realease, but no ETA. This sucker is nasty! thanks.
