Cisco Bug: CSCta13762 - Device logging success status for failure configuration - stp configurat

Last Modified

May 18, 2010

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 5000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

4.1(3)N1(0.134)

Description (partial)

Symptom:

Even though FEX HIF ports (downlink port) can not be configured with spanning-tree ports, DCNM display it as configured.

Ex: interface ethernet 100/1/1
         spanning-tree port type edge

The above configuration is not supported in CLI, but when user tries to perform the above configuration in CLI, even though the configuration failed in the device, after one minute delay, DCNM displays as if the above configuration was successful.

Conditions:

When user performs the above configuration via CLI, switch will throw an error saying "ERROR: Command not supported on fex port". But, it will log the same command status as success in the accounting log. So, when DCNM read the "show accounting log" command response, in the next polling cycle, it will assume that the above configuration was successful. Accordingly DCNM will display the configuration in its GUI.
