Cisco Bug: CSCta03256 - Client side WAE drops SYN-ACK with its own Device ID in TCP Option
Feb 22, 2014
- Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) Appliances
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: In a scenario where the server responds to a SYN packet and echo's the TFO auto discovery options in its SYN-ACK (specifically the Device ID/ Edge WAE's MAC) the Edge will drop the SYN-ACK packet thus terminating the TCP connection. Conditions: An example of this scenario is when a Cisco CSM is setup for a 301 redirect VIP to another VIP that resides on the CSM, it responds to the SYN the packet (not the server), and maintains the same TFO options in its SYN-ACK packet that it received in the SYN from the client. The SYN-ACK is received by the Core WAE, the options are maintained, forwarded to the Edge WAE, and the packet is dropped terminating the TCP connection.
