Cisco Bug: CSCsz87385 - MDS 4.x NTP configuration fails with "Cannot resolve the domain Name"
Jan 29, 2017
- Cisco MDS 9000 Series Multilayer Switches
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: <CmdBold>MDS-Switch(config)# ntp server <CmdArg>timeServer</CmdArg> Cannot resolve the domain name. </CmdBold> Conditions: This can be seen if an "ip host" entry is removed from the configuration and then the system is rebooted. What that does is remove information that is needed to allow the NTP to use DNS correctly. Name lookup will still work using the ping command regardless of being or not being in this state.
