Cisco Bug: CSCsz78401 - WCCP: check redirect ACL protocol matches service group protocol

Last Modified

Feb 15, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco IOS

Known Affected Releases

12.2(33)SXI

Description (partial)

Symptom:
On a Catalyst 6000 series router, configured for WCCP redirection, packets may
be software switched leading to elevated CPU usage.

 Conditions:
If a WCCP redirect ACL contains a permit entry for a protocol that does not
match the associated WCCP service group the system reports the configuration
error via a %WCCP-3-BADACE error message. However if the mis-matched protocol
is UDP or TCP (UDP with a TCP-based service group or TCP with a UDP-based
service group), no error message is generated and the hardware will punt
packets to the RP for processing.
