Last Modified

Feb 15, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Catalyst 6000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

12.2XJC 12.2YST

Description (partial)

Symptom:
When attempting to configure CPU (also called inband) SPAN captures on a Sup2T the option of "source cpu" in the monitor command is unavailable. For example

=======================
up2T(config)#monitor session 1 type erspan-source
Sup2T(config-mon-erspan-src)#source ?
  interface                   SPAN source interface
  intrusion-detection-module  SPAN source intrusion-detection-module
  vlan                        SPAN source VLAN

Sup2T(config-mon-erspan-src)#exit
Sup2T(config)#
Sup2T(config)#monitor session 2 source ?
  interface                   SPAN source interface
  intrusion-detection-module  SPAN source intrusion-detection-module
  remote                      SPAN source Remote
  vlan                        SPAN source VLAN
=======================

Notice that "monitor session 2 source ..." does not provide an option of "cpu".

Conditions:
This is only applicable to SPAN sessions where the source fo the traffic is the path to the CPU and only on Sup2T based platforms.
