Cisco Bug: CSCsz58118 - "ip multicast boundary" affects other interface

Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco IOS

Known Affected Releases

12.0(32)S11o

Description (partial)

Symptom:
In an MVPN setup, observed that data mdt didnot forned because the ip multicast boundary on one core facing interface was affecting other core facing interface.
Conditions:
1. have two equal cost interfaces to core, Gig15/0 and Gig0/0/0
2. there should always be two equal cost paths to reach remote PE2. However Gig15/0 should be the rpf preferred interface.
3. have multicast boundary only on Gig0/0/0, which permits all groups except data-mdt group
4. shut Gig15/0. this will cause no data-mdt mdt formation over Gig0/0/0 because of the boundary command.
5. Now no-shut the Gig15/0 interface: rpf-preferred path. Although the incoming interface for data-mdt state is changed to Gig15/0, the join is still not sent.
