Cisco Bug: CSCsz39460 - Improve error messages for global correlation DNS failure
Jun 19, 2014
- Cisco IPS 4200 Series Sensors
Known Affected Releases
Symptom: The error message: "global correlation update failed: openConnection: Caught IpAddrException badAddrString" indicates that a DNS lookup failed when the sensor attempted to resolve the address of a SensorBase Network update server. This error message is not descriptive of the problem. Conditions: Occurs when global correlation inspection and/or reputation filtering is enabled and the sensor is unable to resolve a server's ip address due to an incorrect configuration of DNS or HTTP proxy or a network connectivity problem.
