Cisco Bug: CSCsz36400 - WCCP router may become confused with incompatible web-cache config

Last Modified

Feb 15, 2018

Products (2)

  • Cisco IOS
  • Cisco Catalyst 6500 Series Firewall Services Module

Known Affected Releases

12.2(0)SR 12.2SE 4.1(7)

Description (partial)

Symptom:

An IOS router configured with WCCP may send messages using information about a web-cache that is no longer valid. It may cache state information about the web-cache that has become out of date. As a result, the WCCP service group may not form correctly.

Conditions:

The problem may occur if the web-cache configuration is changed without disabling then re-enabling the WCCP service. The web-cache configuration (forwarding, assignment and return methods) must initially be incompatible with the service group for the problem to occur.
