Last Modified

Jan 05, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco 12000 Series Routers

Known Affected Releases

3.9.0.BASE

Description (partial)

Symptom:
ifType for l3 VLAN is wrongly displayed as l2vlan(135).
Expected is l3ipvlan (136).
Conditions:
L3 vlan is added as -
interface GigabitEthernet0/5/0/2.2
 no shutdown
 ipv4 address 172.16.2.1/24
 dot1q vlan 2
interface GigabitEthernet0/5/0/2.3
 no shutdown
 ipv4 address 172.16.3.1/24
 dot1q vlan 3

After successful addition, ifType received for l3vlan is "l2vlan(135)".
ifType corresponds to IANAifType . Checked IANAifType-MIB.my and we see

               l2vlan (135), -- Layer 2 Virtual LAN using 802.1Q
                           l3ipvlan (136), -- Layer 3 Virtual LAN using IP
                           l3ipxvlan (137), -- Layer 3 Virtual LAN using IPX

For the above case, ifType expected should be l3ipvlan (136).
