Cisco Bug: CSCsz24694 - CM won't update WAEs after upgrade when users added in a particular way

Last Modified

Feb 22, 2014

Products (1)

  • Cisco Wide Area Application Services (WAAS) Appliances

Known Affected Releases

4.0(19) 4.0(23)

Description (partial)

Symptom:

In a particular scenario, CM may fail to send configuration updates to WAEs after CM is upgraded to 4.1.3. All the operations from CM to WAE may fail.

Conditions:

Prior to the upgrade, one or more external users are defined in the CM GUI. External users are users defined on Radius, TACACS+ and/or Active Directory servers. They are defined in the CM GUI for administrative purposes and given the admin role. But, no password is entered in the CM GUI since the password is stored on the remote authentication device.

After the externally configured admin user is created in the CM GUI, that user definition is also edited. This modifies the empty password field in a manner incompatible with Cisco WAAS 4.1.3.

Some time after this, the CM is upgraded to Cisco WAAS 4.1.3.
