Last Modified

Products (1)

  • Cisco IPS 4200 Series Sensors

Known Affected Releases

6.0(5)P1 6.1(2) 6.1(2)M12 6.2(1) 7.0(0)B117

Description (partial)

Symptom:
IPS sensors using promiscuous or inline mode, possibly with multiple virtual
sensors have logged DBMemoryCritical warnings despite moderate traffic levels.

Conditions:

This has been observed in particular on 4260, 4270, and IDSM-2 running 6.0(5),
6.1(2), 7.0(1), 6.2(1) in inline or promiscuous mode.

The issue is usually accompanied by 'DBMemoryResourcesCritical' messages in
the sensor's main.log during periods of moderate or light load. These
messages are visible via the <cmdBold> show tech-support<noCmdBold> command.

Note: The 'DBMemoryResourcesCritical' message can appear during normal
operation of the sensor, based on actual traffic content, and precise
diagnosis of this condition requires additional technical analysis or
instrumentation.
