Symptom: After creating a metalink between LDAP and MPDS, the sync does occur and no profiles get pulled in. Eventlog will continuously show Timelimit exceeded warning messages. Event Type: Warning Event Source: MPDirectory Event Category: (5) Event ID: 5203 Computer: WTC70-MPDSSR02 Description of error: A search of entry 'ou=people,o=xxx,c=US' in LDAP server 'dircsvr01.prod.xxx.com' failed. Description of error: 3: Timelimit exceeded, BASE, 14. The following messages may also appear and repeat: Event Type: Warning Event Source: MPDirectory Event Category: (5) Event ID: 5056 Description: 47, METALINK IMPORT, 96, LDAP Live Sync Module, 6, 13, Communication error, BASE, 14. Event Type: Information Event Source: MPDirectory Event Category: (5) Event ID: 5155 Description: 47, METALINK IMPORT, 96, LDAP Live Sync Module, 6, 4, BASE, 12. Conditions: This may be specific to a SunOne/iPlanet LDAP metalink syncing from a large OU. Also issue occurs when the LDAPtimeout parameter in the mmu file is configured to "0" or "3600".
