Cisco Bug: CSCsy83394 - NFS on UDP fail if packets are fragmented and are less than <64 byte

Last Modified

Jan 31, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco Nexus 7000 Series Switches

Known Affected Releases

4.1(2) 4.1(4)

Description (partial)

Symptom: UDP fragments may not get forwarded by the Nexus switch running 4.(1)4 or prior releases, if DHCP server or relay are configured in the system.

 Conditions:
DHCP feature should be enabled on the system. And Dhcp snooping or Dhcp Relay
must be configured.

Workaround in 4.1(4) or prior releases:

Disable Dhcp feature if possible. If not Enable Jumbo frame support on the
servers who are fragmenting the large packets.

Solution:

This problem has been fixed in the 4.1(5) release. But the fix is not automatically applied upon ISSU upgrade to 4.1(5) from an earlier release. If you reload the system, the fix gets applied automatically. To make sure that this fix gets applied after ISSU, do one of the following:

1) For dhcp relay, do 'no service dhcp' and 'service dhcp'.
2) For dhcp snoop, do 'no feature dhcp' and 'feature dhcp' and re-configure the dhcp policies.

Note that 'no feature dhcp' removes all the dhcp snoop and relay configuration in the system. /
