Cisco Bug: CSCsg40573 - 12.2SRA(33): MLS FIB frozen when handling aggregate label update

Last Modified

Jan 28, 2017

Products (1)

  • Cisco 7600 Series Routers

Known Affected Releases

12.2(33)SRA 12.2(40.1)S 12.2SRB

Description (partial)

Symptoms: A Cisco 7600 series may enter a state in which the FIB is frozen,
and the syslog may show information similar to the following:

%MLSCEF-SP-2-SANITY_FAIL: Sanity Check of MLS FIB s/w structures failed
%MLSCEF-SP-2-FREEZE: hardware switching disabled on card

In this frozen state the data plane is not affected, but new forwarding
information does not take effect on the hardware, causing an inconsistency
between MPLS or IP software forwarding and the hardware.

Conditions: This symptom is observed when the TCAM information for a label or
prefix and mask does not match the software version, which prevents the TCAM
driver from deleting the label or prefix and mask. For example, the symptom
may occur when a label is moved from one type (for example, form an aggregate
label) to another other type (for example, to a non-aggregate label).
