Cisco Bug: CSCsg34998 - Access Accept with Bad Vendor ID VSA causes authentication failure

Last Modified

May 16, 2018

Products (1)

  • Cisco Carrier Routing System

Known Affected Releases

3.4.0.1i.BASE

Description (partial)

Symptom: When using radus aaa authentication and IOS-XR release 3.4 if the Radius Access Accept message is received which includes a Vendor Specific Attribute (VSA) which IOS-XR does not recognize as a valid vendor ID then authentication may fail.

Conditions: This problem did not occur in IOS-XR release 3.3 and earlier. In those releases the unrecognized VSAs are simply ignored by the router and authentication succeeds.
